You know I am looking through the net at TIG torches, and boy this could all use some standardization......

Also weird nobody's thought of a wireless torch switch yet. There are pedals sure, but a simple torch switch, why not? Eliminate as many wires as possible please.

Ummm. They are standard? 2 types of front end parts and 2 types of thread (3/8bsp for Europe, something else for the US)

Maybe it seems easy to you who is well versed in this but not to me. And kemppi sure doesn't follow that standard using their own R 1/4" gas thru connections. I wouldn't be surprised if most nordic countries used the 1/4 standard, it was that way with OA torches too. And then there's the gas-thru and non-gas thru connections.

Nope, Hugh, there are almost as many ways to connect a torch to a set as there are makes of machine and many more torches than the 9/20-17/18/26 range. It's a minefield.

In my dream world we'd all use Dinse-gas-thru or something like that. The actual standard isn't important, so long as we'd settle on one.

Why would anyone other than an end user want that? Torch business is worth millions to Manufacturers and the industry as a whole. If they settle on one then they stand to loose a lot of money as it makes it easier to cut them out when it comes to torch replacement time. Nice idea but it's never going to happen.

By the way. I got a circuit diagram for a Kemppi C100F foot pedal! I believe lots of people have tried looking for one wanting to build a foot pedal for their kemppi machine but have had no luck. Now if only I knew how to read these things.
