My advice is to invest in a larger and better quality memory card than any that might be supplied with whichever camera you get, my preference being Garmin.

Hi and welcome.

Yes and No, in most cases a dash cam will come with everything to get you going but limited.

So it will come with a power cord lead to plug into your 12v outlet but if you want to hard wire it in that unit is a separate purchase.

It will come with a sucker attachment or be sticky pad fitting.

May or may not come with a memory card, don't trust these, buy a decent brand and make sure it's compatible with your dash cam and dash cam can handle at least 64GB, not all do, I trust Sandisk.

While any decent brand card will do not all memory cards are compatible, my dash cam, the card had to be U3 compliant.

Like many I use a Next Base, mines a 222XR, this model comes with separate front and rear dash cams but uses only the one memory card.

The better the brand the better any captured footage will be, there's more to it but don't rely on a £50 dashcam.

There will be times you will need to format your memory card and you should but never format the card using a PC/laptop, always format using the dash cam to do so.

Most of us are so gnarly & ugly we crack armoured dashcam lenses.

PS I too welcome your post asking about dash cams , for we too are thinking of getting two , once we know a lot more about them .......such as ease of fitting etc. or not.

The Viofo range keeps coming up top of the review. But at over £400 they should!

Their form factor seems clunky. The Nextbase are hard enough to tuck behind the rear view mirror out of sight.

Has anyone splashed out on a Viofo?

One of the youtube channels I follow uses their kit.

In reality I'm a 75 year old lady who was looking for help choosing a Dash Cam on Google and your discussion page came up on it. If it's still ok to post up a question then I'll be really grateful - if not I'll apologise and say bye bye. I'm lookingfor help from people who are down to earth and speak in terms I can understand. I do have a mechanic friend who is fitting a Pioneer car play into my old Honda CR-V and has said he will fit front and rear dash cams for me at same time so they will be hard wired. So thats a bit about me....can I stay please?

Beware. When I joined this forum I couldn't weld either. Some would argue I still can't
But I have managed to acquire 9 lathes, 4 surface grinders, 4 milling machines and a cylindrical grinder amongst others!

As far as i know, all Nextbase stuff is packaged individually, as opposed to a set. Amazon and other retailers will often bundle commonly-sold stuff together though.

If you buy just the camera, it will come boxed as the camera with a mount and a 12v power cable.
