I use silica gel dessicant for drying my air.
My Wolf Dakota 90L 14cfm 3hp compressor and dryer setup
I've posted about mine in different threads since I've got it, so now I've just done some more mods to my air system I thought I'd cover it all in a single thread. so this is the compressor I bought http://www.ukhs.tv/Dakota-14-CFM-Air-Compressor and my first issue with it was that I was...www.mig-welding.co.uk
I just use a filter after the dryer.
i only plan to use mine when im painting just to make sure the air really us as dry as it can be so will be able to check it regularlyNo one has mentioned it, but Wiki has a good page on this subject. There are various materials which could be used to take water out, but they all have limited capacity, so need to be either replaced or regenerated periodically. I suspect that the materials known as 'molecular sieves' would be the most effective drying agents, but unless you have a dewpoint meter in the system, it's hard to know when the drier or working or saturated. Some professional units for critical work have timers and heater so they get baked (regenerated) overnight.
That’s what I have. Down stream of this I have a ‘toilet roll filter’I’ve just remembered to switch out the silica in my filter it’s used in a professional setting (im a sole trader so can do things like this H&s wise) so compressor is on everyday. Seems to work really well haven’t noticed it escaping or having small bits in the lines
what sort of filters are people putting in post the silica traps?
