What age is that one, I have a 2014 hilux HL2, I have thrown everything at it from waxyol, dinatrol to lanoguard, its an annual battle I am loosing, no welding yet but if I had the room I would be taking the tub off and getting in about everywhere, my tub is rusting from the inside out at the rear arches,

its 1999 main body is spotless one hole in a sill last year but its been used and abused all its life really so I think its holding up well , no rot on other side of chassis and from back of gearbox forwards its just surface rust

Got a chance to use my 50s Epco bumper jack i knew it was worth saving ! I have the original receipt for it somewhere £5 or something stupid like that

seal needs doing but pumps up pretty high

Yeah that's what I thought as well. Even the aluminium panels are corroded.

Oh blimey i thought it was going to be a modern hilux. After the navaras falling apart, i've come to expect it from all manufacturers.

I dont think i'll be upgrading any time soon from what ive heard about newer ones now! mind you it would be nice to have a bit more than 85hp

I read recently about a hilux at 7 or 8 years old been bought back by Toyota for research purposes as the chassis was holed, near a spring hanger, think it was in the Stalking Directory. All looked half decent except on bit…..

There was also something a while back where the factory in SA flooded….bet all the bits were still used.

Yep, it was on the SD. I recall reading it. Think he got market value plus 20%

We had a 1994 one, driven in the sea almost daily for probably five years, chassis was still excellent and I never welded it, wings and tub rotted out obviously. Scrapped in 2005 when the brake calipers were all seized solid.

For 1999 & 200k miles that looks really good to me! I'd take that.
My 2000 LDV Convoy chassis was/is a lace curtain compared to that Hilux rear-end.

The tub is hanging as floor is bent and rusty im tempted to put a flat bed or sided bed on it but being a double cab more tricky to find one , may end up making one in the new year

bed is a pain anyway no tie down points
