A friend has a Chevy Blaser with a V6 in it which to be fair sounds like a V8. I thought about a 6BT but it's a lump which would need a fair amount of ancillary work (normally suspension), cooling, gearbox, wings, bulkhead etc. At least in this instance the Sandringham was a Stage 1 V8 originally before conversion so a 4.6 dropped straight in.

Sourced a Disco V8 flywheel and got a factory crank sensor working so no faffing with fitting trigger wheels etc.

Hmm well we all have done silly things

6BT can be tuned to stupid HP but at a cost , seen loads in Landies and Rangies but they are a very heavy lump and not very high revving max without work I think 2800 , my old chevy 6.2v8 ran all day at 3500 but that was only 65mph!

Tricky to make them sound nice though , I think before v8s get banned its time to enjoy the sound for as long as you can

How about a 1UZ or 3UZ?

I've got a 1UZ waiting to go into the 110. Chatting with the owner and main chap at the engine shop that did the heads for the 6x6 recently he confirmed with me that they are massively understressed engines in stock form. On the factory ecu I think they're making 265hp and Tdi levels of torque across the band from idle to about 7000rpm. They can also be tuned to silly horsepower figures, without spending a massive amount though if you source the right era.

I think the earlier ones are the strongest, thicker rods or something.
There's a few Surf's tearing about with these fitted.
