Diesel cab heater

Ive just shown this posting to father as him being an eberspacher man for years he’s removed serviced and fitted loads of them in the past, and he still heats his 8 meter motorhome comfortably with the eberspacher d4 he bought new in 2003 . Depending how much use it gets over the winter months he will decoke it and change the filter screen and change the glow plug, although he did say if it running on household heating oil it runs a lot cleaner and is always cleaner inside as he reckons the red diesel in the uk is dirty fuel.

He has looked at the banggood ones as I have been looking for an eberspacher d2 for my t4 and if they match up to the statements like there DRO’s they are a phenomenal price.



At the price they are I will have to have one

was that at an auction or fixed price its unbelievable how prices for some things are tumbling father still in shock his was almost a grand and he fitted it himself

how long ago got a link as i only need the smaller one in eber terms the d2 that would save me waiting nearly a month from china

Just installed the one I bought last winter, well nearly finished, its on the wall, fuel pump and fuel pipe connected, need to drill a hole through the wall for the exhaust and sort out the wiring then hopefully I'm gonna be toasty in the garage this winter

working fine now.
Had to replace the glowplug, and replace the wires to the fan, as I managed to break them.
Its fastened to wall of no.1 shed, and keeps it toasty: too toasty tbh.

and i had to remove a bit of fuel line where the exhaust melted it because i didnt check it wasnt touching

Just a thought,
I have a heated seat (just a cover hard wired in) and heated wing mirrors,
Is there one of the heater wires I could use to trigger a relay and start those too when I turn the heater on using the remote.

you could extend the fan connection. there should be a enough surplus to power a relay even though it has an "overcurrent" sensor, i believe.

or you could use a thermocouple in the output vent (or around the exhaust) - it wouldnt get warm for 5 minutes or so, though.

Just remember the heater glow plug draws about 12 to 14 amps until it has warmed up.

I start the heater about half an hour before I get in but the other heated bits don't need to run that long ,so I could measure how hot it gets to after 20 mins and set it to that.

if the engine's not running, will your battery cope with the drain from the glowplug plus the heaters?

Yeah it's all run off my second battery

70 degrees according to the sensor after 20 mins,
