It might melt or worse..Perhaps powering it off a car battery, on permanent trickle charge, might be a good idea?
The possibility of a heater melting, giving off flames, burning paraffin, toxic smoke and dripping melted plastic is not a jolly one, specially in a camper van or boat.
(I have a 1960's or 70's Webasto HL 3003 12v blown air diesel heater, no cool down cycle or anything, and preheat on a clockwork timer!
But that's made of thick metal, I think it's from a German panzer or something..)

I had read somewhere this can happen - not such a problem with ours - using Kero and always flat out.
That's not all that you should clean and nowhere did he mention about fitting new gaskets to ensure combustion air can't leak into the environment that you're trying to heat, mind you I didn't see any gaskets either. I'm beginning to see why these cheap Chinese heaters are cheap. The more I see of these cheap Chinese heaters the less I like them.
IF ANYONE IS PLANNING ON USING A CHEAP CHINESE HEATER PLEASE FIT A CARBON MONOXIDE ALARM. End of public information announcement, sorry to shout.
Yes I have 3 - very paranoid about it.
Mind you with the draughts we get you would be quite safe.
I have seen a youtube video testing the actual exhaust itself and the CO level isn't enough to cause you any harm anyway - at least under normal combustion conditions.
