this thread reminded me I need one

last time I cored drilled a hole I was under the kitchen bench with a battery Milwaukee... it caught spun round and hit me in the nose... pretty sure I broke it

it was already bent from a break before... but when I climbed out from underneath it was bent the other way... my girlfriend looked like she was going to cry it was so messed up :-o

Just done 102/107mm dia through 1m of concrete. Through the slab in the corner of the garage and down through the footings at about 45⁰. Was I a happy boy when I hit mud!

straiten the ends drill a hole though put a lamp on it and polish it up

How long did it take ? When I drilled a 110mm into the side of our concrete cesspit, it took nearly two hours, as the clutch on the drill was knackered. As were my wrists afterwards as there was no side handle.

Could have been worse. I did remember to check the unmentionables level inside first !

Dunno, felt like hours. I thought the clutch was knackered but it was only doing it's thing. Drilled with a circa 18" long 107mm core drill to start with. I broke that core out and went again but it kept getting stuck because of the interface angle. Went down to 102mm and it pretty much breezed the rest.

Well I finally bought one. Locally on FB £25. A bit rough around the edges but it runs fine and is 230v what I wanted.

I have a 50mm core to run through a 300mm masonry wall in my garage this week. Ill test it on that first then if successful ill strip this drill and clean out the vents + replace any worn bearings etc to keep it good. The case is banjaxed too so ill be needing one of those and the proper handle.

Update. I came up with a plan that only I would think is sensible here

Buy another complete one that's got an issue engaging the lever, but otherwise all compete for £37 on the bay of thieves. 110v but that won't matter ill swap my 230v internals over.

Side handle and mint case included. Side handle is £25 on its own new.....

And build a second rougher but working 110v kit and re sell it locally for someone that can use it. Ultimately with some elbow grease ill end up with a great kit for myself for nothing more cost wise.
