I come from farming stock and fix agricultural equipment, that is the farming equivalent of cable ties have used baler string, for a lot of temporary repairs, including replacing broken boot laces.

contact this guy, he’s a friend of mine, makes some superb stuff. His names Steve.
My mothers husband deals with a guy up that way who makes the leather bits and bobs for re enacting called Steve.
Can’t be many of them about, but all I know about this one is he’s called Steve in Yorkshire and he’s got asbergers! If it’s the same bloke he turns out good stuff.

Sounds like it, he does make reenactment stuff among many other things. His Mrs is the engineer, though hes quite capable with the spanners too!

For what it’s worth I bought a leather belt I use most days from Abergavenny Cattle Market when I was 17. It’s still in good order. Proper full grain leather nice and thick.
I do treat it now and again with Urad.
Can’t beat a leather belt to be honest.
