Decent quality belt ( for trousers )

Any recommendations, where to get a proper, leather belt, with a good strong buckle, not cheap cast metal.
Usually snap centre pin out .Made a new one, out of a 6mm dia. Split pin. It lasted for years. But the rest of the buckle gave up the ghost. Bought a new belt, but quality is rubbish.

Have lost 2 stone, on fasting diet, so need a smaller one anyway.

Ex German army belts are good. The excess goes inside and doesn't catch on anything. They've a clip adjuster as a buckle, so no holes to elongate.

Does it really HAVE to be animal remains? In 2016, I bought one very similar to this, which is in use every day. The main thing I like about it, is that it is continually adjustable, ideal for slowly changing waist measurements! The other great point is that nobody had to lose their life to provide it.

I've been using army surplus webbing belts for years. Much prefer them to a leather belt as they're infinitely adjustable, plus no holes to wear out.

buy a belt length of e bay , and a buckle of your choice , couple of book screws and your set .
I like leather belts as they take a nice shape and stay comfy ,,, but a lot of cheap leather is just compressed dust and a plastic coat ,,, I paid twenty quid for a proper belt length a few years back and its still going strong .. usually get about ten years out of a belt , then keep the buckle and a new length of leather ,,, the buckle Im wearing now is one I had when I was at school ,,, a bit like triggers broom , but decent leather lasts ,,, mind you Im a mink oil fan too.

When I wore belts I always had to adjust them on the fly: standing up they had to be pulled in, when I sat down some slack was required......

Then I started wearing braces, much more comfortable.

For really high quality go and see a saddle maker, I have one with a hand forged buckle made from part of the tack from a working carthorse never seen a piece of leather so thick.

Alternatively I have worn one of these at work every day for 3 years and it has no signs of wear , the buckle and pin are 8mm bar I think

My reasons are the cruelty to animals and the loss of 7 billion sentient beings every year.

Environmentally, it would be nice to move away from fossil fuels, but not until there is a reliable and economically viable alternative. So I am perfectly happy to use either, but I am not impressed with the current eco nutters' short sightedness and even less impressed that they seem to believe that they have a right to disrupt travel.

If the edge of the leather belt is painted then it is laminated, you want raw edges.
I am still wearing my work leather belt I bought over 30 years ago, though there is not much travel left on the holes!

That type of belt is actually quite good. I use one for work. Not because I have any problem with using leather or suede products though. Simply for the fact they're non-metallic. Same reason I now wear composite boots. Those belts are far nicer to use than traditional belts, & nowhere near as faffy as the clip type adjustable belts.
