Have you not assembled the whole cage together yet? I've had to trim or remake all of the joints on the cage I've just fitted, don't assume that the tubes are the right length.
Not yet, I've done it in sections, but I've made sure I've done it in equal sections, I.e one bar on drivers then one on passengers. Making sure it's all the same both sides etc.
I've had to refine majority of the joins too, the door bars were miles off, the roof brace looks like it should be fitted to a different cage lol, the a pillar supports are about 5 inch too long and almost hit the steering column!
Ben a while since I added anything to this thread, i'll update this now, I apologise in advance if there looks to be a gap in progress.
So ive almost completed the front part of the cage, the main cell area, fitted a single roof bar, as it needed that much chopping out of it on the coped ends, I didn't wanna try getting the cross in, I didn't think id be able to make it even enough.
I had to use a porta power to lift it up into position, which did deform the body work a bit, but not structurally just enough to clear the fit. so not its sat pretty much in place, just a little further back than its final place, I now need to finish the back edges of the door bars and get the foot plates fitted. once I done that I will slide it forward and tack it in place an begin to mock up the rear down tubes.
Fair amount of misalignment on the coped parts of one of your door cross braces. Welds look nice and neat though. I sighted mine through with a string line as I found that easier than messing around tying to hold a straight edge against tubes while crawling around a car full of *****, avoiding kneeling on sharp things and banging my head on yet more tubes. Oh and I sent Custom Cages my car so they could get my tube kit right. PhillipM can testify to how wrong they got the Pug306 kits prior to that, bless em.
Monkeys and typewriters comes to mind.
I see they're still putting a completely un-neccesary little kink in near the windscreen base on the a-pillars though.
It really needs re designing, I mean I'm happy to have a tight fit, but the amount of body panels I've had to 'adjust' and the a pillar support that barely fits in the car, let alone the cage, the cope joins that don't line up with anything, the roof bar was about half inch out.
