Generic chinese, compare the images and specs to other colours…..incredibly similar.

In theory then, if all compressors are the same 'chinese', if the FAD is good and its cheap then pointless spending alot? Seems like it's almost worth buying cheap twice is worth it

Wow, great deal, 100l too? I'm not in a massive hurry, weather wise it's not good for outside spraying (car touch ups) yet anyway.
I spend probably to much time on the classifieds lol, I do worry though about buying a 'lemon' if not brand new, don't get me wrong, I'm mechanically minded but compressors are new to me.

They’re both 150 litres so 300 in total, I’d been looking for months Mark, then within 1 weekend both turned up on Gumtree at the same time and both local, separate sellers but identical compressors, what’s the chances, you have to be prepared to act quickly though if a good deal turns up, as the old saying goes if you’re not fast you’re last.

No, you need a big pump, that’ll contain oil
For spraying, you want a good compressor, a cooler, I’m making one from copper pipe with several drops, and a filter system which separates any remaining moisture and cleans the air so it’s pure for spraying, you want ideally a belt driven pump, runs quieter, slower and produces less heat than a direct drive.

Sorry, I should of said I will be doing smart repairs on personal cars as and when (not whole cars), hopefully I won't need your fancy set up lol. You are right on the classifieds though, I keep checking every hour, if not more in the hope that something will pop up, it needs to be a portable one for me so will probably max out at sub 100l. As long as I get something with 10 CFM/ 6 FAD I should be OK, I hope.

A 14 CFM compressor (statistical cubic feet per minute) will give you around 9 CFM FAD (free air delivery) that’s your average 3 HP compressor , Just as I was typing this you replied above, Personally I think it’s good advise to say to you to get a 3 HP compressor, that’ll give you the ability to have a bit more potential price wise whether new or second hand there’s not much difference.

I have to apologise for my earlier post, @Jack Ryan is indeed correct. I really shouldn't post so late at night!
I have one of the Lidl compressors & used it for many years for general garage use & spraying. You'll run out of air if you are doing a lot of painting but it should be ok for a panel.
That being said after I got a big belt drive unit I'd never go back to the direct drive Lidl one for daily use.
A few folk on here have the Wolf twin cylinder unit & like it.
If you are in no hurry I'd keep my eyes out for a used Clarke compressor. They are very well built in the UK using an Italian pump & motor.
You can get a LVLP spray gun that uses a lot less air than a HVLP, but I hear that its harder to get a nice flat finish with it.

piston compressors are simple enough, piston goes up, air gets squashed through a valve, piston comes down, new fresh air allowed into get squished.
If your planning just doing smart repairs, Id select the gun and work backwards. Guy I know does loads of them, basically using an air brush, or a touch upgun.
If youve neighbours compressors are noisy things if your going to be doing lots

Soon as I went to lift the box, I thought: There's no way that's only 14kg. It isn't. 26.3kg, I believe, it says on the booklet.
