Yea that'll stop the safety catch from moving, just check if theres any wear in the plunger, a quick test we used to do was to hook it up to a motor, and jack up under the A frame to load the coupling, it surprising how many jump off.
there is a rig available for testing which uses a load cell,
Wise decison Your hitch looks as if it might be prone to the same defects mine has I would make it safe ie: tie the release catch up by either drilling or for fast fix tieback or something to stop it releasing that catchwe have a hitch like that one on our little trailer tent
it's from the late 60s so it might the same make ?
and we have been using for most of last summer and this one
i'll have to give it a test before taking it out again as were fond of it and wouldn't like to lose it
Trailer's looking good algieboy
With them old hitches as a temp fix hook it up, push the plunger down and catch in, then wrap insulation tape round the catch part to hold it in
nice work on that trailer
i'm working on my own so i can move my old 2cvs around
(better than using the old A Frame)
as for the coupling on the trailer tent i'll do the jack test on it and if it passes i'll clean it up
if it fails then we'll upgrade.
i like the winch
so much better (& safer) than the cable type
Nice job you have done there.
wow, i'm looking into making one of these for my kit car. I was a little concerned that any trailer made from a caravan chassis would look 'homemade' but yours looks like an expensive trailer
Very impressed, just need to keep my eye on ebay for cheap one to come up in my area!! Thanks for the inspiration
Hi,
a couple of months from now should see the start of a few weeks period where people are looking to dispose of their caravans so they don't have to pay winter storage.
Even if you have to pay a couple of hundred pounds for one you should get enough bits to sell on (awning, fridge, cooker, electrics) to get most of your money back.
Regards
Peter
