To "Square off" stainless manifold tubing. It seems to cope fairly well.
Have a look at home made belt grinders as used for knife bevel grinding.
They use a 50mm (?) belt and can be made in a weekend from scrap - although that depends upon your scrap pile.
Ive made a couple - skateboard wheels, belt sander drums and breadcrate trolley casters are all good sources for idler wheels.
A flat pulley driven from a 1hp (3hp better) motor drives the belt.
Because its only 2in wide belt, it only needs half the motor rating of a linisher.
Belts are usually, in my experience, 48" long in the uk.
US ones are 72"
That sounds very interesting. Belt sanders have barrel shaped wheel which is adjustable to centralise the belt, wonder how you got that sorted? A 50mm belt sander is something that seems to me very useful, but expensive, and would be great to make one from cheap parts............
