We have a separate area for the smack heads and drunks, they get sent straight through to their own holding area.

Shift change over at 7, seems to have slowed down a bit at the moment. Not as many here but many being seen either

After you have been seen by the Dr get a copy of Robin Mackenzie's "Treat Your Own Back".
He was Physio to the All Blacks amongst other things.
There is a load of useful info and some "First Aid" exercises.

I swear by an Osteopath. I've suffered a bad back since I was 19 (61 now) Not helped myself by being a fork lift truck driver for 36 years. I used to have three weeks off when my back popped out, but since I've been seeing my osteo, I'm usually moving within 24 hours.

as in my earlier post after they scanned me they said if i started peeing myself and leg goes dead go in instantly

Depending on the examination findings you may need to be laid flat on a trolley till you get an MRI. An important question - have you had a wee since it happened and does everything feel normal down there??

Pain in both legs and numbness would get you an MRI from me in Oldham. If you can't wee (or don't know you need to go/any leaking) that makes it even more urgent.

its more like the gp has refused to see them as the older end have no email

so without that you cant get an apointment at your local gp

ive blocked both phone and email due to the gp sharing a private number with another body whilst they was told it was a private number

im not happy with the way they can share details with other bodys without the owners consent

Generally the metalwork put in by orthopods is MRI safe, might warm up a bit but won't come flying out of your leg and attach itself to the machine leaving you screaming and broken! However it all depends. If plumbing OK, you hopefully don't have anything more than a prolapsed disc.

I usually send people to a chiropractor, have a guy I use here, but clearly not where you are!

My left foot, ankle and up the leg a bit looks like mecanno from xrays (I'm also a bit of a broken biker) but never had the need so far for MRI. Good luck, hope they see you soon and alleviate the pain and get you moving.

If you have spare money tucked away then go and have a Ct scan at spires murryfield before you start getting stretched and pulled by a back doctor..think the private scan is about £550 and mine saved my life when i had bladder cancer, money well spent in mine and your case.

This is really sage advice. Chiros can work miracles but also cause real harm if there trying to fix the wrong problem.

I have a friend who has suffered from too much too soon intervention from a chiro so proceed with a little caution and as Roofman says getting a scan to really see what has happened before a laying on of hands is the best if you can afford it. This is what my friend told me when I hurt mine earlier in the year. (I couldn’t afford the scan mind you! )

I read through several of the bad back threads on here earlier this year and one nugget that I found really helped me was that, your back is pulled together at all times, even when you lay down. So relieving this tension by gripping something like a doorframe above your head and gradually taking some of the weight off your legs. Working your way up to hanging, keeping relaxed not like doing a chin up, like an orangutan.

Anyway this is advice for later.

Right now gobble as many painkillers as you can as muscle spasms won’t be helping anything. My experience with the nhs these days is if you don’t ask you don’t get, so if your really hurting ask if you can have some more pain relief.

You will get better, but the recovery might take even more patience then your wait in a and e. Best of luck bb hang in there…

See a chiropractor asap, go private.
The quicker you see them the easier it is to treat it and the sooner you'll be sorted.

I had a chiro who looked after all the big sports teams in the region. Man was a genius and usually had you sorted in 2 sessions. He used some alternative diagnosis and treatment methods as well as traditional methods. Whichever method he used depended on your problem.

Man retired in his 70's and died within a year.

I'd also advise you to take up yoga. All the exercises the physio gives you are actually yoga stretches without the funny name.
I've suffered with my back for years and when it's bad I've a yoga routine that always releases it.
There are a few yoga stretches that you can do seated, designed for folk who can't stand. You could do them when you are in your crane.
Join a yoga class and get the teacher to put you through them.

I would point out that Xrays don't show discs but you have to go with what the docs there are doing.

MIght show misaligned bones if you've really knacked it though!

Doctor said he thinks its a muscular tear, but wanted to xray to eliminate spinal damage or a disc issue is about all I know at the moment.

Apparently a 2 hour wait for results at the moment

An ultrasound will tell them more than an x ray.
But there wont be an US operator on at night.
