You need to deal with it now! You won’t ever improve if you’ve got contamination issues. If you know what it is just sort it before attempting to lay another weld.I know there is contamination but I know why and when I get better can deal with this
No you shouldn’t.Thanks for your input I have got some acetone so I will clean it all first filler rods as well interesting re the wire brush as it does leave a horrible finish.
It makes total sense re positioning and this i think is one of my downfalls so I will try to address this also your advice re not laying it all in one go makes great sense for some reason ive been trying to get it done in one also I have been a bit tense for some reason not wanting to mess it up so will try and relax a bit more I have touched the tungsten with the filler wire so this is something else I need to stop.
Re the material I dont actually no what it is just some scraps I had lying around.
The filler rods are 1.5mm but I dont know what they are either they came with my welder but are in tubes that arent marked any pointer to what filler I should be using.
I have an old lincoln mig with a roll of 0.8 in it didnt know if this could be used for filler or not Ive attached a couple of pics.
Your replies have inspired me to try again hopefully I can put some better pics up this time fingers crossed.
For practice you can use whatever filler you like. The grade isn’t going to make any difference to your ability to weld.1050 be better as an all round filler
4043 would be a safe bet on cast aluminiumThanks theres a bit more to it with different grades of aluminium Ive got an old engine hoist with a cast ally cover any idea what would be the best filler for this.
If had to weld something that i didnt know what grade it was what would be my best option for filler
