Yeah i would agree with that. I don't mind food wrapped in paper, and remember well as a kid being given bottles to bring back to the shop to get the deposit, sadly progress made all that obsolete.

+1 I think a defender would be great with an electric motor. I have dibs on my first discovery 3 with its current owner with a view to one day converting it. Was the best disco I ever owned and would make the perfect dog walking car for us.
When I look at our i3s motor packaging it looks almost perfect for such transplants it has 190ps which is same as Origional tdv6 too. Batteries could go between chassis rails and where 3rd row seats are.

Bloke across the road has just had this delight installed on his bungalow wall so he can charge his new car without dangling an extension through the front window.

then had to stand there in the rain putting the socket back together hoping no-one saw you!EVs (or at least the ones I have used) will not move if connected and that's not just whilst charging its with something in the socket. Charge flap yes just like any car you set off and it starts bonging at you.

I see icon 4x4 are now dabbling in EV conversion I was waiting for this. High end stuff but really good to see people starting to do it. Rich rebuilds is a fun channel and has some traditional mechanics starting to get their hands dirty on EVs. won't be long before we see people doing this to Series 1 land rovers and the like.

His house is south facing with 4.5 kv of solar on the roof , think he said he,s off grid with the addition of his BMW i3 ,
Think his system uses the i3 as a power source , think there 30 odd kv battery's
Said hes configured his smart system to use the car when not needed to power the house, charged off the solar , or over night on economy 7 power,
Think that's a no brainer for ev owners

I don't think there are any currently running v2g (vehicle to grid) systems in the UK yet. Especially not with CCS, which is the connection the i3 uses to the DC bus in the vehicle. His system will be a usual time of use shifting setup, probably. So he runs during the morning off stored energy in his PW2 which he filled up off economy 7. When they are empty his solar will fill them back up .

he's an consultant for sunnyboy , So might have designed something that talks to the car , or just unplugged the battery bank and used a fly lead ,
I used to work with a Spanish electrical engineer that worked on the major solar sites around the world , huge kv sites, he mentioned a sunny island , that can switch between battery banks ,

Leaf can provide power back out the battery but I3 cant as far as I know. I stuck test leads across the direct DC terminals on the I3 CCS port just out of curiosity when we first got it there was nothing. Within the charge connector there is a control pin that talks to the inverter and battery management onboard the car. I had to get a DIN mount controller unit when building a charge point for on the drive it negotiates with the car then clicks the mains power feed through a contactor.
