I think i've overcome the fear now. I've developed a welding tic that really helps. I tap my mask twice with the gun before I engage!
Here's a few picks of a nightmare job that turned out to be way more work than it looked at the start!
The welding looks terrible but hey at least I'm doing it! I usually just do enough to hold fabricated parts in place and then use body filler. When I started I warped the living daylights out of the thing that covers the side door runner so I try to rely mostly on filler to get things looking good now. Most of it is behind the bumper anyway so it should be good enough.
I've still to do a layer of stopper and then paint but I'll prob just leave it with the primer on till I've got the other bits of rust done.
