I did my table with JB Weld. Works ok but not a good colour match...

Which type of JB Weld did you use?
I have never used it before and there seem to be a few types available for metal such as the original epoxy, quick setting epoxy and a putty epoxy.

That's a very nice clean up you have done on your Fobco drill.

Would you please be able to tell me how you cleaned up the pillar and the table/base. I may have a similar clean up to do on an old drill and was concerned that I might marginally reduce the pillar diameter by cleaning it up and introduce small amount of play between the pillar and the head.

I just used fine sand paper on the pillar followed by a little metal polish.

I didn't do much work on the table just a quick run over with a mouse sander. I have JB welded it now need to fill in a few spots.

I think it was £6 plus tax and shipping, When i spoke to Tony he said he no longer had the handle with the ball on the end and was sending me a similar one. But luckily for me he managed to find an original handle.

Looks like the Roebuck one I have had for years can't fault it for value, I also have a tiny Record one, its a good idea to buy one as the drill is so much better with one.

Bringing this thread back to life. May be able to sneak an hour in the garage next week.

Whats the easiest way to get this to fit the slots in the table? I've had a few things fly off the drill table including the drill vice as i cant clamp things down.

Is the thread bigger than the slots then?

Looks way too big for the table. You just want some regular machine clamps. Clarke do sets for peanuts or you might look out for some decent quality secondhand. Can't have enough clamps but you can have the wrong size clamps....

Yep will not fit.

Maybe its a little too big but it will clamp to the centre from the end of the slots.

You don't really need to clamp anything down, if it's too small to be held use the vice. If you put a stud into one of the left hand ( as you're looking at it) slots, you can rest what ever you're drilling against it and it won't go flying. You can use the same method to brace the vice too.
