Just go and buy a Big-shot catapult. Those air launchers are pants.The big shot head attaches to pole pruners so its not much more to carry about,splach out for the release trigger and you are golden.
Are you gonna be spending five minutes on a stirup pump refulling it each time you miss?Bring a compressor to site or flatten your spare tyre as a donor?

I'm not sure if it matters how you do the "pushing" - if the muzzle velocity combined with the projectile weight give you over the "power" threshold, it's time for a licence. Or not.

Why are they pants? I have a Makita, which will take about 30 seconds to fill it.
I think it will be easier to aim and control than a catapult.
I dont think my telescopic alu pole pruner would be the easiest to fit a catapult on and I dont always bring them - dont fit in the boot. Anyway I will be making the catapault as well.

most cylinders have a baffle of sorts inside them, so stop them moving too fast / smashing into the end of the cylinder at the end of it's travel
you could probably strip one down and remove it or drill it out

The 2" RAR (rapid air release) valve on the bead blasters is patented. See attached should you wish to reverse engineer.
It is available as an upgrade to existing machines, which would be the most economic way to purchase.
Quick release valves are used in pneumatics, but the biggest I can see is 1" BSP, which might not flow enough or fast enough for your needs.

They are difficult to aim and you cannot effectively alter the power like you can a bigshot by just not pulling the rubber back as far.
People were using these air devices 25 years ago but they faded out. Now they are back and will fade out again.
Re Gundog dummy launchers They are legal to own & use because they fire a dummy off a Spigot with three radial holes in the end, ie the barrel / spigot isnt drilled all the way through so it cannot fire bullets. They use .22 blank cartridges. The dummy is a rubber cylinder approx 2 1/2" dia & about 8" long.
They go a long way & recoil can be fierce. One old boy in the wildfowlers club used to keep one under his bed in case he got burgled!

I've gone off the idea, I dont like the idea of having/storing or firing blanks.
The power is air pressure, fill it less, just the same as pulling the rubber less? Might take some gradual trial and error.
Catapult is started. I may try a small air cannon still.

Would that old zip tap CO2 bottle I gave you be a good basis?
Maybe charge it as required off of a 12V compressor?

id use thin box section as a strengthener before fastening the plastic tube to the metal frame
also using a roller pull bar you will get full fire every time as it will roll down the fire rod that spinning it

Mine was a c02 extinguisher but I bored the end out and tapped larger, to get more flow

Drones are generally restricted in residential areas, licences for bigger ones I think. Dont know as I never used one.
I dont think many drones would be good for lifting 350g and 20 meters of cord, into a tree. I can imagine the cord getting tangled and caught on small branches.
No plastic will be harmed in my creation.

Yes thats what I'm thinking but the outlet may be small. I'm not sure it will matter as projectile is heavy and will take time to start moving.
Or two 1L cylinders, I have a few of those, that doubles the air outlet size.

if you want fast open or fully open on a valve change how it operates
pulling that valve from vertical to the side of the pipe your not going to get full pressure however a slide over the valve will open the valve fully in one shot as you pull the slide
