Re Gundog dummy launchers They are legal to own & use because they fire a dummy off a Spigot with three radial holes in the end, ie the barrel / spigot isnt drilled all the way through so it cannot fire bullets. They use .22 blank cartridges. The dummy is a rubber cylinder approx 2 1/2" dia & about 8" long.
They go a long way & recoil can be fierce. One old boy in the wildfowlers club used to keep one under his bed in case he got burgled!

Hit a branch with a launched dummy especially if it is tethered on a line and somebody is likely to get hurt.

Back in 1994 I shot a dunny through a 1/2 wooden shed door to prove the power.

IIRC in 2005 here in South Wales I had my launcher put on my shottie cert so I could buy blanks

34" long, 1 1/2" pipe, appears to be roughly 1.1 litres.
So I think the big 9L version is a mistake, I'll try a 2L tank and a ball valve.

I made one just like that from 15mm copper when I was about 12, absolutely lethal loaded with sour cherries off the tree. You have whip the valve open sharpish or it was a bit less impressive but a PVC version would easily get something like a tennis ball over just about any tree.

Those launchers dont need to be on a certificate, Basc info here, Quote [ The association of Chief Police Officer’s Firearms and Explosives Licensing Working Group issued a circular letter to all police forces dated 16th November 2006 following advice from the Forensic Science Service and other technical experts about the status of Turner Richards type dummy launchers. The letter states “that our view is that the Turner-Richards type launcher, utilising a spigot, is not a firearm for the purposes of the relevant UK legislation”. Anybody facing problems with legal action may request a copy of this letter from the BASC Firearms Department.]
The blanks do not require a certificate but cannot be posted. Some forces may interpret things differently today!

Potato gun. Made one years ago with some plastic pipe and a push button piezo igniter from an old calor gas fire.

Sniff of easy start, drop in golf ball or whatever and off you go. Will easily go straight up 50 metres.

50 grams vs 400 grams. You'll not get a tennis or golf ball attached to a line to come back down.

Anyway I decided on the Vevor due to the alu tank and near half the weight of the cheaper ones.
