Finally! Got the underside sealed as far as the rear wheel well/axle area including the new inner arch section on one side. I'm not sure if I'll leave the other side as is yet. I still have welding work to do on the boot floor, rear valance & tailgate.....2k epoxy.

I have the inside floor prepped with the aid of my eldest (he's 18), but ran out of poxy epoxy primer

That's it sealed as far as the rear axle area.... I'm itching to get some colour on the engine bay and interior, as well as stone-chipping the underside. I should probably leave the stone-chipping until I have under the boot area stripped & any metalwork done

....and rather than carry on with the above, I've decided to tackle the rear valance:



The boot floor, the tailgate and the valance are sandwiched at this seam, which has previously been the subject of a plate-tacking type repair. The valance, being the lower-most, is also perforated in several places and bulging in others.
Replacement valance: €225.. I'll see how I get on with chopping this one off and repairing it....

Bad news from machine shop, crankshaft has minor fractures. €725 for a new one, effectively doubling the price of the engine rebuild... Oh well, it was a gamble I suppose

It's feels good to be tackling the rearmost edge of the car...I've said before how I enjoy fabricating the repair sections and I know there's not much of that left to do.


Happy with the above patch, the one below was a little more complex with the dimple for the fuel pump/sender wiring...



Almost forgot the spot welds underneath, the second air pung/joggler has failed so pilot holes and a step-bit to the rescue...



Next is the seam-edge of the rear valance... I've cut a strip of fresh tin the full length of the panel and I know it's gonna be fiddley....

Slow work on the valance.... It's long and unwieldy and didn't take kindly to the air saw

...the bits I cut off started to turn to dust shortly after...

Just a little fettling here and there...

So near yet so far.... I've redone the offside rear wheel arch. The low spot on the quarter came out when I cut the wrinkled piece off..... but it's back now I've welded-in the fresh metal ...not sure what to do about it as it's fairly inaccessible from the inside to allow me to knock it out to a high spot, and as I understand it, shrinking a low spot would not yield good results....



Got this far and ran out of mig gas, fuel tank straps plug welded onto the valance...





Above will be gone over again in places where I missed... But that will need to wait until it's back off the spit
