bought my 1st banty for 10 quid then bought a greeves Scottish for 15 quid then an ajs for 30 quid and a 650 Norton ss for 40 quid still got that after 45 yearsI remember seeing the likes of BSA bantams advertised for £500 and thinking the seller was high on paint fumes, they go for multiples of that now
I was given my first bike, 1938 speed twin in bits and kind of sorted it back in the day (there was no warranty with it)
Am thinking the same, can get Matchless ones so it goes faster these bits and a Saab v4 twin choke inlet manifold were £140, was quoted £120 from a photo, but the head was really dirty and painted black.I'd just go for a new set as you said, rather than mess around with lumiweld to save 60 notes. The aquablasting is a good job, was it expensive ?
Just a proud mark on the casting, no cracks.....^^ That's not a crack below the 55? Hope it's just a casting line.

That was the standard way of stamping the crankcases. It's an oblique separating the date and model numbers.
