Removed the batten last night to do some marking out. For some reason, one of the countersunk screws refused to come out, resulting in the hex becoming rounded.
I tried tapping a torx bit into the damaged hex, to no avail. I ended up drilling the head off the bolt and then removing the threaded remnant. Which came out with no fuss whatever. So no real idea why the screw was so stubborn.
Drilling the head off a countersunk fastener was like working on aircraft again.
I ran an M6 tap through all the threads to clean them up, just in case. This evening I'm hoping to get the holes drilled and tapped in the batten for what I've decided to call the mounting beam.
