Thinking about getting a 9inch grinder is there any make better than any other.Would be running it off a 13amp plug.

Any well respected brand and you'll be fine! Hitachi, dewalt makita bosch to name a few. Go into the store and have a feel, they are cumbersome things! Very rarely use one myself. As for running of a 13A socket you'll have no problems.

I really like using 9" angle grinders if theres enough space for it. Theyre fast and powerful with a good depth of cut.
I have used soft start and hard start all om 13 amps, but the old Bosch hard start i have now keeps tripping the damned breaker in my shed when it starts
The Bosch used to be my grandas and has done alot of work and is still going strong, so maybe a good brand to go for.
My 4 1/2" angle grinder is a Black and Decker and its been very good, good enough that if i had to buy a 9" grinder i would try and get a B&D.
I think i can remember between me and my dad killing a couple of Homebase ones, Xtreme brand?

I've a Bosch at home and we us Milwaukee at work I prefer mine but they are both good.

Yeah if you can find a B&D 9 inch grinder... I have one that I bought 25 years ago ,it's still my go to grinder ...I've killed so many grinderettes .. but I can't kill the B&D ....jeff

Bosch pro have been really good....all my drills/grinders are bp. Have nine inch but hardly use it..I find it a bit wild....haven't used the 1.9 mm cutting discs they do yet...

Ive used the thin cutting discs and have spun the centres out a couple when they got pinched, gotta love the power of a 9" grinder
They can be quite delicate on a big grinderI just assumed they would make one, its disappointing they dont.

Used to use Hitachi at work and they very rarely gave grief, if they did it was something simple like a switch or motor brushes. I bought one of my own in 9" and have it years, its been perfect, but i don't use it much as i prefer the smaller grinders or the plasma for sheet.

I'm almost certain it's a (not ancient) Black and Decker Pro I use at work, and have to say it's brilliant. Feels nice/handles well and has enough power and has done a serious amount of work yet it never falters. I don't count power leads mind 
I've known Makita to go on, and on and on too. Most of them seem decent, and although I've not used one I should think Milwaukee will be as good as they get. Don't get anything with JCB on it though...

Maybe, but I couldn't recommend the new telehandlers - the one at work seems to be out of action due to electrical problems for nearly as much time as it's in use for
I have a Hitachi, its a beast & the only tool i have that scares me. I have had several near misses with it.
As for old ones, If you should find one with the on of switch the thumb operated rocker type on top of the handle with no dead man button beware!
A friend of my dads Changed the cutting disc on one of these, while he was doing this the switch got knocked on to "On", he plugged it in & it leapt of the bench & chomped into his thigh going halfway through his femur. He nearly died from loss of blood.

A good thing is when youve worn the discs down enough, you can use them on your 4 1/2" grinder, you get a fresh disc in the big one and the equivalent of a fresh disc for your little one
