Hi, If 5-10W is enough then a coil ballast resistor or a bulb would be easiest.

I use just over 1 litre of water and a level teaspoon of menthol crystals in my current setup, i still need to test how hot it needs to be to work.

If you are heating the water by other means and just wanting this element to maintain the temperature then it won't need to be as powerful as if it was heating the water up from cold.

Unless I’m reading it wrong the OP wants a 100w element and wonders if a kettle would be an easy source. Nowt to do with getting a brew on?

Ah I assumed it was heated dry. 100w will take an age to heat water. Rule is 1w will heat 1ml by 1c per second.

100w and 1L is 16.5 minutes to get near 99c, assuming 100% efficiency.
