Today I thought I would quickly do a valve adjustment on the Mule, but like any job, this one decided to add a few more steps on the way to completion.
Heres the first bank, all good, TDC clearance is 25mm or .010" for both intake and exhaust.
then on to the other side. Of course the bolt right above the exhaust pipe was rusted solid. As careful as I could be, the bolt still broke...and then broke again. Bugger!
So the surgery begins. File the bolt flat with the surface of the head, then center punch....
Prep for surgery with some tape to keep the swarf out of the head. The hard part was getting the right angle for the drill as there are frame crossmembers right in the way...but I managed....just...
6mx1 tap worked great and a magnet and air cleaned out the hole...
Thread check and swarf clean....
and all back together. The test drive went fine. No noisy valves when cold, however, a noticeable tick showed up as it warmed up...Nothing alarming, but I would like to get to the bottom of it. guides? sticky valve?
what do you guys think?....
thanks for lookin.
any comments welcome
