@TinbasherdanSomeone here's sticking a Cummins in one too I seem to remember, can't quite think who..
I need a work horse for moving machinery, getting firewood out of forests, and all that stuff, we've a couple of volvos for day to day stuff, the unstoppable clio should anything pack up, and both wifie and I have always fancied a landie, so hey, it's worth a look, not under any illusions...
Mechanics don't worry me, rust does...
I did 350 odd miles with a snapped crankshaft towing one of Bob's trailers with a Bridgeport on the back...they remain the only engine I’ve ever had that would (and have) managed to do 800 odd miles on 3ish cylinders to get me home.

I do like that engine - despite having snapped two crankshafts.
How is that possible?I did 350 odd miles with a snapped crankshaft towing one of Bob's trailers with a Bridgeport on the back...

the bmw 6 in range rovers was prone to that especially if they had been ground.Never known snapped cranks. Have experienced rockers going adrift
so they don't salt the roads South of the Loire???out of interest never buy a vehicle North of the Loire valley they use salt on the roads like the UK.....
south of there almost everything lasts.....
where I used to live there were Reno 4's, Citroen DS's and the like galore...even a few Dauphines..and they were rotten in the showrooms when new....hahaha.......
anything 4x4 goes for loads'a money...even parts....
Driving an engine with a snapped crank shaft?
Where did it snap?

Been there done that.Budget for a brand new galvanised chassis. Rarely can repairs to a rotten chassis be "that is it" and you often find you are welding the chassis year in and year out until you give in and either sell or buy a new chassis anyway.
