Same as BS, ran my Pickhill 180amp from a 13A plug with no problems ever.
nooo just soldered a bit of 16 amp wire across the blown 13 amp fuse same on the compressor no discolouration or overheating on the pins in socket or the plug^^^^^ you haven't swapped it for a 6mm gutter bolt have you
I agree with all of that, except for:I'm pretty sure its single phase not 3 phase.
No, you cant install a 16a fuse in a 13a plug.
Not least because I dont think you can get 16a fuses that size and if you could the socket would catch fire.
You can use the welder on a normal 13a plug with a 13a fuse. You might find the fuse blows if you turn the welder up to fill power.
If that happens you would need to have a blue socket installed for it and fit a blue plug to the welder.
Or just replace the fuse with another 13a one and turn the welder down a bit.
if you could the socket would catch fire.
To get you going just put a 13 amp plug on it for the moment - I reckon you would get pretty close to full power out of that, a 13 amp fuse will take more than 13 amps for a good period of time before it blows. To fit a 16 amp socket you would need to get your garage wiring checked out by an electrician to make sure it’s suitable - but I bet it will run fine from a standard plug.
£99 for a bare plug for the same price in lidl you can get a plug with a length of wire and a welder hanging out of itThis rather special 13A plug will accept cable up to 16mm in diameter with 4mm2 cores:

However, it is for the audiophile market, so priced accordingly !

As a rule, anything that requires 13A or less will come with a standard 3 pin moulded plug attached but if it needs a supply greater than 13A it won’t come with a plug.Assumed the welder came with a 16amp plug. My bad.
Remember the rubbish European 2 pin plugs are rated at 16amps so I am sure British ones will cope

save your dosh just put the 16mm cables in to an adaptable box and a bit of 2.5 flex in to the plug. does the same job and only about 3 quid mind u you wouldn't impress your geek mates if u didn't fit the overpriced plug anybody with an ounce of sense would just hard wire that size lead in and fuse accordingly. less connectionsThis rather special 13A plug will accept cable up to 16mm in diameter with 4mm2 cores:

One of my welders has a Euro plug and a 13 amp conversion to UK plug, you just put the Euro plug in and snap it shut best of both worlds.
