I'd kick off with giving it a good clean first![]()
Clean it, assemble it, then learn to use it
Here are the nuts and bolts, hopefully thats all of them.
There should be 2 clamping blocks for the headstock, is the other one out of shot? Some bolts I screwed back into their respective locations so you knew where they went.
The little paper manual was tucked under the pallet wrap like the package labels
These two?

I went bin diving found the pallet wrap and the two packaging labels but not the manual.
There will be gib strips if you look at the end, undo the screws see if it frees up.
Had a go at loosening the screws on the side everything is full of crud, still trying to work out how it comes apart.

Thanks seadog i will give it a go.@dazza, you need to remove the locking ring holding the handle, normal right hand thread then pull the handle off. There is a very small key which you need to remove. Remove the grub screws from the thimble being careful to retain the springs and brass plugs which form the friction assembly. You'll then see two slot headed screws which you remove. The steel body slides off the screw, there's a thrust bearing as well to take off. Unscrew the lead screw and pop the nut out so the slide can be removed.
Thats good to know Pete, i learn something new every day. The problem is remembering it.Good news is you can still see all the machining marks which means that slide has had barely any use if at all. Bodes well for the condition of the rest of the machine.
I keep looking at this picture and thinking why not go for it.No point, it will just get dirty again in use![]()
It wont stay pristine for longWhen I see pristine lathes sitting in a workshop I see a lathe that does not get used or gets polished more than used. They are tools, no harm in looking after them but to me looking after a machine means making sure it is running sweet, is lubricated correctly and has everything adjusted properly.
