there should be something like this under the crud. Are you meaning the dial on the handle or something else?
May be imperial rather than metric.
Would be nice, don't think my budget can cover it at the moment.A DRO is a good investment and now would actually be the ideal time to get and fit one. I bought two DROs from HongKong probably 12-15 years ago and they were one of the best investments I made. Sold one with the Student lathe but still have the one I originally had on a mill now on the Triumph lathe.
Did i say millimetres lolOk, yes there should be and it will be degrees it is marked in.
I'm hoping it works and was disconnected to stop the kids ******* about with it.It is a complete unit, well except the flat plate, that is just a bolt on plate to suit your lathe.

Well you are new to the lathe so it may be for erasing your mistakesI also found an eraser behind the suds pump.
I don't think i need suds but as it has a switch i need to have to workingHopefully it will as they are not the cheapest of things although you can sometimes get the Chinese ones off eBay for under £100.
Having said that you could use the Chinese pump you had for the cooler, would work fine for that![]()
Having coolant is a good thing, can be a bit messy especially on an open lathe. Not sure if yours has a splash guard or not, also a chuck guard is really needed when using coolant.
Drilling and internal boring I always use coolant but I don't always use on external turning.
