ive used them a few times for stripping wire etc but not tried them on anything heavier than that richard, must say it was one of the things that attracted me to that model, i very nearly purchased a victorinox swiss tool but decided on the leatherman due to the jaws.

That's the sort of thing I would of based my purchase on too mate.

The original leatherman tool. Yep only one type around then iirc.
That was before they started giving them stupid Americanised names like surge, charge, wingman and wave etc.

I've got this Stanley creation now as my leatherman was lost. This is the second of two that I have now and I picked it up last week for £12 from B&Q. I've got another older one that I've had for about 5 years and it's travelled the world with me.

It's always with me and I can't fault it. Difficult to now see why I should ever pay leatherman prices again

My little leatherman family. Must get round to sending the wave back, the large flatblade broke a couple years ago and I've just been living with it. Although to be fair I usually just carry my swiss army knife with me now.
The Crunch is the most recent addition, hasn't seen much use yet but I think it'll be a handy tool.

Some of us moved on to better tools.

I used to import Leathermans -before all the variants- at the time I was heavily into MTBs so needed one that could cut Stainless Steel cable, the leathermans couldn't do that for long before the cutter was blunt. I also found the pliers painful on the hands. The new ones look far more hand friendly.

So when Gerber brought out one with replaceable cutters I bought one. Comes on holiday with me, but thats it.
I've never used The Leatherman mini

I don't have a Leatherman, Gerber Suspension.

Tends to go on holiday with me but other than that does not get a lot of use as I usually have some hand tools in the laptop bag if not a full tool case.

None. I use the correct tool for the job.
I do carry a swiss army knife[scissors], and a lock blade. If the swiss army had a decent blade Id only carry the one.

I have a leatherman, but I carry a swiss card lol, don't want to loose the leatherman lol, I know I know, I buy it but it cost so much I fear to loose it, the swiss card is ultra handy when I need to pull hairs from my nose (the migration from my head) or get splinters out my little finger lol



p.s, you know when you have quality pliers in the workshop but the ear and nose test

Not much to show. The Swiss army is due for renewal, the sissors are past their best. Like @arthur, I dread loosing the SOG, as it would cost so much to replace, yet I keep an old Opinel No8 in the draw

Here's mine, bought in the US around 1989

My daughter, a police officer, wanted one for duty use but they are only allowed the non-locking blade models so I got her a Juice.

They will never be a replacement for a box full of dedicated tools so it's a bit of a daft thing to say

None. I use the correct tool for the job.

What they are indented for is having something on you at the time and place to do the intended task.
Obviously as we know some are better than others and they are not always the best solution for the job having recently broken mine doing something silly with it.
That said when your 50 foot up in a cherry picker doing a job only to unexpectivly find a bleeding self tapper between you and completion then it's a god send if you can Quickly whip it out with a half decent Phillips on a multitool rather than going back down to get the proper tool. As a get you out the poo tool a good quality one like leatherman or gerber are worth having in your pocket for those forgetful occasions. Let's not deny it now we've all approached a job not always having what we need.
