I reckon BB should buy a TVR (or Lotus, their reputations are interchangeable ), he'd be forever on here moaning about how reliable it was

come on TVR has a bad enough reputation without adding BB into it

rocker cover gasket leaking can fill the plugs with oil sounds like a lot of crankcase pressure breathers blocked or ****** and broke head gasket or cracked head did it have any anti freeze in it or not etc

Dropped my neighbours S plate Vauxhall Magnum into a friend garage last night for a MOT.
If only to see what it fails on, it was laid up for 4 years.
He brought it to restore, but sadly he did the work and was struck by the Big C. He is still with us, but he wants the car gone.

Charge the battery, 1 jerry can of fuel. bit a cranking, she run.
Let her run for 20 minutes and drove her, after checking what we could to my friends.

Light to gently braking to polish the brakes.

She has now passed.
A new wiper blade, as it did not clear the screen, rubber had gone hard.

Plus one advisory on the stink pipe, it was corroded, but not leaking.

See good cars do exsist.

been done before but why bother it's a cheap run around
plus stuff like exhaust wiring ecu lots of other little bits to change as well

What about this ??

There's thousands of these in daily use and can usually be fixed on the side of a road by a man wearing flip flops, who's tool kit has a small screwdriver and big hammer

I've seen one of those where the wheel fell of due to a rusted 'axle'.

If a kid can do that by not touching it, dread to think what might happen...

MOT failure, but if it was BB's he'd never get it there to find out

All joking Aside...

It doesn't appear to be the oil on the plugs causing the issue...

Took valve cover off, gasket looks ok, can't see any obvious damage so cleaned everything up, drained oil from around the plugs, cleaned the plug caps out with a bit of wd40 and re assembled it all...still the same when I started it

Also when it's running, it does t seem to make a difference if I pull the plug leads one at a time...

This is the first time I've started it today with a clear head and it sounds like a bottom end knock (probably should ha e run it before stripping it really

Has it got oil in?

or water
sounds like head gasket gone or a piston pressiused the sump stopping the oil in the top end going back to the sump
then blew the oil out and you did the bottom end driving it home without oil

Not a lot...it did have about 10 days ago...

Starting to think it is oil related and bottom end though...

Just doing a tool buying trip

If there isn't enough oil for the pump to pick up the botuom end will knock you need to find where the oil came from

So, can I check I have this right?

Your car made a funny noise and lacked power.

You stopped for a look and found the engine covered in oil and the dipstick dry.

You then drove it home like that.

Then, next day, you cleaned some bits off and ran it up, without putting more oil in.

And now, you don't know why it's making a funny noise and have gone shopping.


Is that a fair summary?

I did t notice the oil until I started pulling bits off at home,

There is currently enough oil in it that running at idle won't be a huge issue for a short while, I put the last of what I had in there before starting it...

If the oil light is on it shouldn't be run as it will damage the bearings

The oil light hasn't been on...

With the half a litre I put in it brought it up to touching the bottom of the dipstick so there is enough in there to run it a short time just To confirm whether it's fixed or not...

Just picked up a gallon so going to drop the sump and inspect inside
