It was difficult for the first half hour...I was actually quite angry but after snapping at my 3 year old I realised it's not worth getting worked up about

It's worse than that mate...Im currently waiting to be picked up to go out with the rifle...got a .243 over my shoulder and enough ammo to fuel a small revolution

There is a guy selling a car that is very reliable starts first time, hardly uses any fuel, air con, tyres last nearly for ever, can be 2x2 or 4x4 I will post a photo if I can find it.

Look for something like a blocked breather pipe, or valve is there is anything that goes from rocker cover to the bottom of the engine, if the top became pressurised it could have forced the oil passed the gaskets. Not sure what your engine is if injection or carb. Just thinking some carb engines also vent into the inlet manifold so burn off the oil vapours if it got a lot of oil vapour it could have explained your very poor performance.
I am laying bets on not that expensive as I can not see how a breakage of engine parts would dump oil in the plug bores.
Any way good luck with it.

Recently at home, wife's car started ok but immediately ran very rough - never done that before...
Honda sohc engine, recently losing about 1litre of oil a month on the drive, otherwise been 100% reliable for years.
Same initial symptoms as yours, except #1 plug lead was also off.
The leads have a cap that fits the rocker box, & oil pressure had pushed the whole thing off the plug
New rocker box gasket includes 4 rings to go halfway down each plug hole.
Old ones had never been off (in 20 yrs) and had perished/crumbled/mostly disappeared.
All 4 had been leaking, hence oil rustproofing underneath the car & pretty patterns on the floor.
Done the rocker gasket, and new plugs too as the oil burnt onto the ceramics looked nasty.
No more oil leaks, car runs fine again. Should have done it a long time ago....

You aren't. LolReading this, I take it you didn't stop as soon as possible and investigate what was up with your car, but instead decided to continue driving home.

rocker cover gasket leaking can fill the plugs with oil sounds like a lot of crankcase pressure breathers blocked or ****** and broke head gasket or cracked head did it have any anti freeze in it or not etc
