The frequent oil leaks. The fact there is always something on them that needs doing. The fact they rot while you watch them. Mechanical failures which shouldn't happen (i.e not fair wear and tear).
Yes, of course there are good ones. And I do quite like Landies - have one myself - and am fully aware that some problems are caused by a lack of maintenance.
But I could never recommend them for reliability. Running costs are the reason why just about all the farmers I know changed over to Japanese vehicles a long time ago.

They Do have a "reputation" but at least with the older/less electrically advanced ones i don't think that the reputation is fair.
Landrovers, due to their very design are work horses. That is fine as long as they are given a bit of TLC but I don't think I have ever known of a brand that is so universally abused. Treat almost any piece of machinery like that and they will all develop problems.
* The above only really applies to real landrovers and the range rover classic. (not later discos, freelanders and newer rangerovers)

With the exception of the swivels the whole 'landrovers leak' is mostly rubbish; the leaky ones are just badly maintained, old badly maintained japanese things leak oil too, they aren't immune to it. Swivels are a special case as if you go mudplugging at all your swivels will become leaky sooner rather than later; in ordinary road use they hold up fairly well assuming you don't skimp and fit 'happy dragon no.1' seals or 'squatting tiger' swivels. Mine drips from the sump because it did so when I bought it 4 years ago and I'm too lazy to change it.

for those that can drive, a 300tdi will pull 3.5t all day long and not break a sweat. a td5 is all electronical and most of the driving is done for you.

though my Suzuki with its little 1L engine will pull the 3.5t weight behind it... even have a video of it doing so... once, and never again
On the bottom of the door, there normally sits a rubber seal. Mine is L shaped, riveted to the bottom of the door frame.
This rubber seal, when the door shuts, should meet up with the floor.
The question is, if the seal is still present, what is the gap between the door skin and the seal?

God that's a good question. I've not got a clue. Probably has to touch to create a seal otherwise no point having it

I'm really not sure. I'd line the doors to the side first then see what the gaps like, should touch then. If not you May have to adapt the seal or you'll end up with a poorly aligned door. That's what I'd do
