You may want to check the fuel pressure regulator on the right rear of the engine. When it leaks its a pain to get at with engine in situ as a pipe goes from it to the front behind the alternator. Our two TD5s both failed around the 80000 mile mark/twelve years.

Haha, I wish. Yes it is but still loads to do to it. I'll probably wait till my bodywork is away before finishing the engine. Trying to clear space

Great idea, I was going to do a list in my phone but that's even better can't do very much today but I really need to just do loads of odds and sods. May write a big to do list this morning as it's getting to that stage I think.

Just a bit of info that I expect you already are aware of, if not it may help you sometime. If you need to remove the spigot bush or similar in a blind hole, you can remove them without damage by filling it with grease, fitting a snug fit piece of bar, socket bar etc. in it a giving it a tap with a hammer. The bush will come straight out with the hydraulic action. It's quick & easy if you don't have a puller.

I actually saw that yesterday when I was looking for ideas on how to fit it I do have a puller so saved the hassle luckily but very good tip

Thanks hopefully now it's off the grass and going back into the garage later you will all see more updates more often or at least once a week

I wish it were, if I had the money I'd rebuild the gearbox and transfer along with a rebuilt engine then it'd be show worthy. It will be nice though least I hope so.

Hi Kim,
The fuel pressure reg is bolted to the side of the engine block. Three pipes to it. Any sign of leakage replace it although you have washed the engine so it may not show. Check the rubber pipes to it for splits or perishing. The valve itself is sealed with o rings and a metal gasket. The steel pipes to the reg are sealed with small o rings. Once the body is on it is fiddly to change as the steering shaft and manifolds get in the way. The pipe going to the front is hidden by the alternator and manifolds making it almost impossible to get off without removing alt. The replacement kit, about £80 I think has the pipe included. If you do remove the regulator then be very careful not get dirt into the fuel system as it could cause injector problems.

Did another few bits today nothing much as I did over 11h at work
Started by unraveling the engine loom and working out how it went then fitted starter

Then put my straight through exhaust on to make sure it's correct, need to rub the rest of the exhaust down before fitting that.
Put the bulkhead on to get it out of my way

Started looking like a Land Rover ish obviously need to get it painted but I have a plan of action and a huge to do list. Plan is to spend hopefully two days and complete the to do list then can finish bodywork for paint. Hopefully then I'll be able to start getting it painted. I'm thinking about doing it in three batches to enable me to complete it all in between batches, the first will be the most important as I can hopefully make it a running and driving truck after first batch and the rest will just make it look good least that's the plan. Sounds easier than it is haha

Thanks, I just want it done and not need to spend anymore on it! It's costing so much money and time that I've not got much off. Best doing it now while it's warm also don't want to be working outside in winter again brrrr

Once it's painted maybe but yes not too far now. Probably a solid weeks worth of work and I could have it mechanically done
Id love to fit a cummins but rather just leave it standard.

Yes - it's like the house renovation programs that you see on telly - get it waterproof BEFORE the winter or a lot of your good work will be spoilt, and that gets very depressing.

Still at least you've not gone the way of most 'Grand Designs', where the bloke has a heart attack, the woman falls pregnant, and the agreed mortgage falls though as it's not yet habitable
