I did that as well but preferred the knife most of the time. hammer is equally as good though

HELP

My welder has broken recently the earth seemed intermittent, now it won't weld at all it's super irritating as I'm in the middle of finishing the rear axle and need to paint it today.
There is this wire hanging off I tocuhed it on parts of the gun but it did nothing. Also it's a euro gun I think they're called ?

Where is the wire hanging off, inside the torch?

A quick way to prove a eurotorch fault is the bridge the 2 brass connectors in the socket (use a bit of welding wire) you should hear main relay, gas & wire feeder operate (slacken wire feeder to stop it feeding)

Refresh and you'll see it. It does feed wire it just won't weld. No earth it's a nightmare.

Disconnect from mains

Remove covers and follow wiring from work return (earth) dinse socket, bolted connections can work loose and burn due to high currents involved so remove and check/clean before re-tightening.

Okay, was hoping I wouldn't have to do that but I'll strip it in a min.

I have a mig almost identical but lower amperage and I also lost the earth, inside the machine the earth had a crimp connector that looked great and was tight but the connection was bad so that may be worth a look

Kim, that welder is obviously broken beyond repair. I suggest sending it to me, I'll take it off your hands for nothing.

You can strip down and rebuild a bulkhead, and I'm confident the rest of the vehicle too.
Taking the covers off a welder and finding the loose connector isn't going to be much of a challenge for you.

debatable haha, I took the cover of, poked some things and took the euro torch off and put it back on, it worked lol, next time I need it I won't be in a rush so will fix it properly but I think it's the euro torch

Can anyone guess what I've been doing today ?


Off course you can! Painting one step further forward I guess.

Spent the morning repairing the axle where the shock goes through, the area got oval'd out, started by chiseling all of the cups off, then using a price of copper underneath I carefully welded the hole up a bit...

Then using a die grinder I made the hole round very carefully
Welded the new cup in from the bottom and ground that weld flat as you can see

Then just welded the other cap on by the sides. I did this so its easier to remove in the future if there are any issues.

Then prepped the axle and painted it!! Hurrah. Just top coat to do monday and it's done (I know, I know, I need to tidy up )

Then after that I prepped the parts I primer'd yesterday and began painting them. They look incredibe, I'm so happy they are finally done, can't wait to peel the masking tape of and see them finally done and done right

The parts have come out so well, I'm over the moon.

(This post was written yesterday so makes sense for yesterdays work and the day before)

To be honest they were so dirty that just using a wire wheel cleaned them enough then I have some adhesive cleaner I wipe them all down with them paint hope that helps

I decided to remove all the masking tape earlier. I'm gobsmacked and ecstatic with how they've come out. It'll look so amazing when the axles are assembled and the chassis is done
