I've got a press. If the rubber comes away from the outer bushing I'll use a hacksaw carefully to cut it then a small chisel to bent it out and tap it out if that makes sense

I would consider not re-fitting the brake disk covers/shields, small stones tend to get stuck behind these and make a tremendous squealing noise if you are planning to do a little off roading

Good idea, front ones are in terrible condition, I'll scrap them all saves painting them haha one less thing to worry abot

Shame you didn't mention the 52mm socket earlier, I converted a (cheap) box spanner to ½" square drive I could have posted to you .

+1 on the brake shields, after a few years they're paper thin and not worth saving.

You will need a 14mm? flat ring spanner to remove the swivel housings from the front axle and the bolts are VERY tight.

Thanks for the offer that's very kind Ive bought an impact one for £10 delivered. Going to put it on an impact gun anyway. Always handy to have seeing as both my bf and I have defenders

I was half tempted to leave them on and tape them up because they actually look fine. My ring spanners are the correct type to fit it though I think. Hopefully I don't need to remove it lol

It depends if you're rebuilding the swivels or not. I've always found it easier to rebuild them on the bench. Setting the preload is easier if the swivel is in a vice too.

The 6 bolts are mostly hidden by the curve of the swivel housing "ball" making access difficult.

If the 52mm socket is for the thin nuts on the stub axle they don't need to be very tight (37 ft lb?) as there has to be some play in the bearings.

And any idea how much weight it needs to be ? Maybe it'll say in Haynes.
