Now I think about it, you're right but she could probably borrow a van from work if needs must. Anyway, I'm bored of that idea now, the Bridgeport head would be much easier to collect, not to mention far cooler100kg is a lot to put in the boot of a car. 200kg is too much for most so 'a few hundred' is pickup/van territory usually.

Hopefully one daybegin setting up a decent machine shop!
I cannot remember why but I was thinking about that yesterday.
I got some, 200kg, granite wall/floor tiles in the Nubira estate about fifteen years ago, and the little man asked me if the car was strong enough. 95kg is about 15st in old money, so three across the back and two in the front, that is near half a metric tonne without anything in the boot. Even if your five occupants were 60kg, 10st wringing wet, that is still 240kg and a driver.
So long as you keep the weight in the middle, I cannot see why not. I was a bit slower to accelerate, but the suspension still had travel. All depends on what kind of car Mother Maker has.
Edit: Just remembered why, towing weights for a horsebox and two BMW K100s and a CB450, and how to fit a CZ and a(nother)MZ into an Octavia. Better keep that quiet.![]()
You bought that eBay lot? I looked at it and thought better.
200kg spread across the floorpan is not much but let's face it, a surface grinder is one big lump and you'll have a fight just to get it over the boot sill.
HopefullySo there might be the sound of milling coming from the garage soon then.
Are you sure, volts * current = power, 230V * 3.2A = 736W ≈ 1HP. Obviously there will be some losses but not quite that much, surely?
We wired it up just now and it run very smoothly and quietly.
The shaft is only 5/8" where as the original shaft and pulley bore is 3/4", this might point to a lower power but more importantly, does anyone have any ideas as to how I can fit the old pulley to the new motor.
I know it won't be 100% efficient but I assumed it would be at least 80%ish.You cant work the hp from the amps like that there's power factor and efficiency to think of
