ebay number???I just won an Elliott 181 horizontal mill for £420 (the one from my first post).
I'm hiring a Luton with a tail lift and my cousin is driving me over there to get it. I think there's a pallet jack we can load it with in one of the pictures and we will unload it with steel rollers, hopefully going over on Monday.
Anyway, I'm off to start moving all my tools into the garage and all the crap in there into the shed

Pretty much, its a lot of machine for the money if you need something to cut a lot of big gears but it'll be limited to short shafts for splines and key ways. Well done on getting the elliot, I did think about bidding on the shaper at Appleby as its fairly close to but I need to concentrate on projects instead of getting more machinery

Does anyone know if the motor will be rewireable to 230 volts? I'm fairly sure it's gonna be 3 phase 415 volt so I'll need an inverter. There is a motor looking thing at the back of the table in one of the pictures, do you think it's for power feed or a coolant pump?

See what motor it is first up until 64 it was a 1hp,I would stick with the three phase and buy a an inverter as you will easily get shut if you happen to sell.

I was expecting 3hp or more
. I will stay with 3 phase because I can change the speed easily with an inverter but I really can't get 415 volts.

Concrete gives off very fine dust if not sealed, the dust sticks to oily equipment and becomes grinding paste. Besides, a painted floor makes your tools look cooler!

I spent the day clearing it out and I can see what you mean, it kicks up loads of dust when you sweep. One wall is blocks, does that need sealing too?
Can I just seal it with PVA?

1HP on 3-phase is still grunty; it's not a massive machine so you won't be able to fit big tooling and take huge cuts so the motor won't be a problem... and 3Ph gives a smoother cut as well. Plenty of scope for learning (and making mistakes; as someone wise once said on here, the man who never made a mistake never made anything
). Just be prepared to spend the purchase price again on tooling, measuring instruments etc. to go with it!

. Speaking of tooling, am I correct in thinking that a D.I is pushed in whereas a D.T.I has a leaver and measures more precisely(or accurately)?It looks a nice machine. Be very careful of the weight. A luton's tail lift will typically only cope with 500kg - some are 250kg. An 18 ton lorry will usually have a 1000kg tail lift on it. I run a pallet shipping company and we can do machines this size but big mills are more tricky.
I love Elliots I have an Elliot Sturdimill and the build quality is amazing. Only problem is the weight. Almost 4 tons!!! It can only be moved with a HIAB - a very good one at that.

The Omnimill weighs 482 kgs and the 181 appears to be the same machine without the vertical spindle so I'm thinking around 400 kgs? I hope the lift will handle it, I'm f***** otherwise
.Or you could book it through my company - Speedshift or another pallet company. Just make sure it is strapped or better bolted down to a sturdy pallet. Saves a fortune on fuel as well but it all depends what the person at the collection point is prepared to do.
