An Albertros Delta, if Im not mistaken, a fair few of those had Coventry Climax engines.

Stand down, owner has decided that the logistics ( costs) of getting it to me are not going to improve the chances of a sale and therefore it stays put and will be sold as.
edit: It’s approximately 4.5 hour drive each way and it will need to be on a flatbed as the trailer it is on is not road legal.

The HASAW and insurance angle tends to mean you have to have the ritght paperwork to even look at one let a lone carry out a repair .

Quite interesting, I have a friend who bought one in the 80s, but it had the wrong engine in, was a ford cortina engine, not sure if it was a Delta or an Albatross. Theres one lying under a bush near here, a place we shoot clays at sometimes. But it belongs to the land owner and they say he wont sell it. Quite sad really as it’s deteriorating as the bush grows, it has the climax engine.
Don't think they are over valuable even restored, the folk who dreamed of owning one are all probably past it now!

Good point, it's easy to fall foul of regs if you're not careful. I can do many things in my workshop which wouldn't be allowed elsewhere, and I can do things myself which I wouldn't be able to employ someone to do without them having been certified to first.
One example of a reg I need to be careful of are petrol saw coming in with blades fitted. If one comes in with a blade on it can go back the same way, but if I remove the blade to do something to it I can't refit it, nor can I supply and fit a blade. That's the case even though I have the cert to do so but apparently it's something to do with not being able to pass on liability to the person using it unless I have seen and verified that they're trained to do so. As I have no guarantee that I know who will once it's left the workshop I can't fit them.

The couple I know of are both Ali, and no sticky out bits on the chines!
