After spending a day getting the alternator off, it is trapped under the PAS pump, removed the engine mount bracket from the engine, and from the chassis, then got it tested, all OK, then spent a day refitting it, and then 10 mins sorting out the wiring muck up from when I converted it from positive earth dynamo to negative earth alternator we have charging...... and now a fresh MOT, lots of jobs still to do, and still waiting for a screen but I have been driving it around! with a full tank of petrol and two people inside it sits a little too low so I will be adding some spacers to the front springs and removing some spacers from the front of the rear springs.

decided to just buy a new (repro) master, looked at the price, £260.00, decided to replace the rubbers with a new kit I already had, hard to get to but did it this Monday, found a quite bad oil leak from the rear o/s of the head, turned out to be from the rev counter generator, what a bugger to get to, especially with two artificial shoulders and a left thumb with little feeling in it!!!!!!!! refitted it with spacer tubes and longer cap heads! took me 2 days............ also found out why it was dropping coolant when I parked it, the radiator cap was too deep, felt good but it was opening the return valve, shorter cap installed and all good, also spent a day or two attempting to sort the overdrive issue, but still no good.................................
