This illustrates one of the problems you can get using insulated terminals. It had been pushed on beside the spade rather than onto it. They feel firm because of the hard plastic, but it's a loose high resistance connection. The resistance causes heat, and that can lead to disaster.

I haven't had chance to look at it really, the only thing I noticed was that the propshaft is in a straight line from the final drive to the diff. By the time we'd unloaded it and talked through what he does and doesn't want I had to shut down and shove off.

I'll have a proper nose in the morning.

Seems that there's a bit of a run on wiring jobs at the moment. So out with the 55 year old brittle, cracked wiring with repairs on repairs and high resistance, and in with the new, flexible 'gets the electrons where they need to be' loom.

The 1440 version of that in the USA, different paintwork, same machine is often described as a gun smiths lathe!

I have to say, I am really impressed with it so far, a few niggles but having used only Swiss, German and British machines for any length of time, this is starting to grow on me. Bloody heavy thing too, the fork truck, rated at 2 ton, couldn't lift it.
