Not that I would do that any more, or less. but as i never done it before I can only guess what that would be like.

Pocket screws I’ve heard them called, bung ‘em in your pocket & keep quiet

Or finding that fixing, at the end of a long rebuild. Then finding out it was meant to be fitted at the start.
To fit it means a strip down.

My favourite was fitting the cover onto a fuseboard then noticing the neutral bar cover sitting on top where I put it for safety

I worked with a sparky at Longbridge who would take 4 screws out of a cover and throw a couple of them over his shoulder because it's easier to remove the cover next time

I once found a tiny screw I'd lost after I'd spent quiet a while looking for it when I took my overalls of hours later

I've spent ages looking for a screw only to get a new one, finish the job and then find the missing one stuck to the magnet on the back of my worklight.

I was helping a fitter take a pump off a manifold some years ago - problematic water supply installation, always having shafts breaking/impellers coming off etc. Anyway he went to get some tool or other to get the housing off, so I pulled back the pump and whipped the (loose) impeller off, pushed back the pump. The look on his face when he eventually pulled the pump off was priceless! Thinking back, should have kept up the joke, it would have been good to watch him explaining the missing impeller to the boss...

As an apprentice with about 4 years experience I was taken out from under the wing of a really good mechanic that always took the time to answer any questions I asked and put under the chargehand . After around a week working under him he got the job of changing a classic Mini gearbox , partway through the job I said to him “ hang on, you’ve forgotten something, he told me not to talk like a prat so I kept quiet. The engine was put back into the car , driveshafts connected and everything going nicely until he tried to drive the car. He had left out the idler gear between the engine and gearbox and left it on the assembly bench. the foreman tried giving me a b##ll##ng for not telling the chargehand but after another mechanic told him I had he then gave one to the chargehand. The next week onwards I was working on my own . Last I heard about the chargehand he was working as a milkman

Did that with my FZR race engine I found a 6mm locating dowel in the box. Stripped it all down but didn't find anything wrong

I've spent ages looking for a screw only to get a new one, finish the job and then find the missing one stuck to the magnet on the back of my worklight.

Had that stripping a mini car door down, one of the window glass fixing screws went missing so I spent ages looking for it and eventually saw it stuck on the speaker magnet

Got this Amp Clamp the other day.

The human I got it from could not work out why it had a cable and Watt measuring inserts, as he did not know where they went.



I do wish our @missbruce would come back, I need her help.

One cable end before a clean.

The WATT measuring cable is shot and will need replacing, but for todays tests it was deamed safe enough. As were were not testing it and standing or holding the machine.

A standard GEC 3 pin connector. Where does it go?

Here per chance?

Tested today, but not calibrated.

It has stamps on it saying.

But I got it fixed with silicone bronze.
Works great on cast iron to steel

To clear up a point.
Tested on a load testing machine at Thales. But no calibration cert supplied as it was not the sites equipment. So they will not issue one.

the building settling very slightly in the past 10 ish years made some very slight cracks appear in the mortar in the corner of the workshop. not a issue, totally normal, but it also cracked the tanking slurry on the walls, the rest of the building is bone dry, but im getting ingress here. i had a little left over, so i slapped it on, and job jobbed.

The first new bike I bought was a CX500, yours is a later model with the reversed Comstar wheels.
