I've been there so many times...even when I've got the bit on I've usually done it backwards.Obviously I never made such a mistake nor did I flair the brake pipes with out the union fitted.
!When in my teens, I got sacked for similar. Was changing a 2 way switch, one of the old round china ones & the wires were 3 blacks, no colours & I got it wrong twice. The guy I worked for sacked me on the spot, leaving me to walk back about 7 miles home. Sod drove past me as well, used to see him occasionally & he wouldn’t speak to me, totally ignored me. All part of life I suppose, I worked for some horrible sods when young.I've been there so many times...even when I've got the but on I've usually done it backwards.
Just soldered a diode this evening...it took me 3 attempts to get it the right way around!
AliExpress, very impressed tbh with the quality of the tool:

I've been gathering track whenever I see it at the right price on the car boot sale, to go with the various locos and other stuff I've still got from the layout I had when I was a kid. My idea was that when I've finished restoring the cars, I've got a pretty big shed that I could build a decent-sized layout around the outside of. I'm sure you can all see the flaw in that plan.As I don't currently have a railway, I also bought a load of track and various other stuff!
My brother changed from Hornby three rail to Marklin, the detail on Marklin is superb. All digital, you can run multiple trains on the same track. Lights on the locomotives and carriages and if you want a camera for a driver's eye view.
Is that for the pass through connectors?
dHaving decided that 57 hobbies just isn't enough, I have embarked on building a rail layout.....
Well, I actually saw this Police Class 37 got released by Hornby and I wanted it (oldies will remember the advert for BR it was used in).
As I don't currently have a railway, I also bought a load of track and various other stuff!
Just got to get the garage conversion done so I can play with it

25l drum of transformer oil only £14.

5kva transformer box.
When viewing this I didn't notice the 3 phase plug on it. Oh dear I said I wonder have I bought a 400v to 110v transformer (or similar more vulgar words).

Thankfully it was wired as single phase across 1 live and the neutral pin in the plug.

Hooked it up to 240 power and got a nice 110v output.
Transformer is nice and clean inside with no cooked smell. Very quiet too, virtually no humming noise from it.
I had been looking for a 5kva transformer for a long time, now I have 2!
Are you going to attempt this...Having decided that 57 hobbies just isn't enough, I have embarked on building a rail layout.....

I still have my old Fleischman loco from the 70's, one day I'll get around to restoring it.I've been gathering track whenever I see it at the right price on the car boot sale, to go with the various locos and other stuff I've still got from the layout I had when I was a kid. My idea was that when I've finished restoring the cars, I've got a pretty big shed that I could build a decent-sized layout around the outside of. I'm sure you can all see the flaw in that plan.
I went to see Pete Waterman's layout when it was in Chester Cathedral and it looked great, but I think I'd probably enjoy building a layout more than actually doing anything with it once it was built. Loads of stuff is different now, with DCC and so on. I'm not bothered about sound as it always seems to sound tinny due to tiny speakers, though I expect that will improve.
I remember in the seventies and eighties when I was first getting model railway stuff, the catalogues for the German companies like Marklin and Fleischmann always seemed to have much better stuff, or maybe it was just photographed better.
I don't have Facebook sorry! Are you going to attempt this...
