I am printing a parametric box to store the M12 rotary tool. Largest print I have attempted, this is the bottom half with 5 mins left..

Measuring cups in PETG that I might use for 2T oil, however they are only accurate if filled to the brim. I might reprint them with a slight stepped lip to avoid spillage.

Also some cap head bolt thumb turners. They are a very good fit and had to be perfectly aligned with the internal hex before pressing on in a vice.

It’s an old Feather and black / Iron Bed co thing, so from what has been said £10 a pop is reasonable, though I see they’re now £14.00 for two, they will discount for bulk.

Looking at the photos it looks like the base as it is shown in the pictures is curved, which will mean supports and a bit of manual clean up. The seller isn’t making a killing on these and not something I’d do for a living, get tedious very quickly. If it was for yourself though it would be worth it.

Can you make them out of thin equal angle welded up mild steel and tack weld stops on the sides to stop things slipping out

Possible but difficult - they slide into place in a C section channel running the length of the bed.

The issue with that design is you are relying mostly on the friction fit on the side of the cap head. Printed in that orientation the internal hex is a weak point where it joins. This design also still allows you to use an allen key

Whilst I have a 3d printer and would print a couple of replacements. If you are having to replace many of them, I think I would be tempted to screw/stixall a baton in the chanel and screw the slats directly to that.

After another look I'm fairly certain the model I linked at end of last page, is functionally identical to the one sold on ebay, it may need scaling and minor adjustments.

One of the ebay listings (black picture) has the measurements to compare against.

apologies if this is the wrong thread to ask the question in, and I should add that I have no knowledge of 3D printing other than what I’ve read on the forum, but does anyone have any idea about the cost per item of printing stuff this way? I appreciate that the time on design, material and size of the finished article will vary considerably, but it’s a question that seems not to be discussed.

I ask as one, I’m nosey, and two, I recently bought some bed slat brackets on eBay that are not longer available from the manufacturer, and they are clearly 3d printed. Whoever has done it has done a bit of research as they are superior to the originals which have just failed through age, though I’m now faced with replacing 30 of them which at £10 a go means it’s probably cheaper to buy a new bed! So I guess the question boils down to is £10 for a bracket (overall size 75mm x 75mm x 75mm) reasonable?

Just printed the STL that Kram found the link to. Not sure of printed sizes yet as I have been busy but they can be adjusted if needed.
Can you measure one if you have one still.

Ah, I hadn’t twigged that his post was referring to my question! I’ll go and measure one.

Started a chair arm mouse mat to fit the sofa, only printed a small profile to see if it would work, and it wont. Looks round but under padding is flat, but the short arms are never going to grip it.

Instead, Im going to try a 100mm radius half tube.


Then printed a small box. I dont like the fragile looking latch but otherwise its the perfect size for storing chainsaw chains upto 28". Torx key set for scale.

Beyond my abilities in bambu studio, but would be nice to have a feature for several to lock together on the flat sides, but to be easily detached when one is needed.
