Okay, I didn't fix this today, I broke it a couple weeks back, but I really do have to fix it, can't be going into the Pliers drawer just to open the shed! There has gotta be an easier way. Maybe someone with a Tig welder eh?

high security!
Drain pump for our 14 year old Bosch washing machine,found a pump on e bay for £15,the first 10 or so digits of the part number were correct,but they don’t list the rest,so took a chance ,only thing I can see different,this one has an extra spigot for the emergency drain,whereas mine tees off the larger drum drain,an m6 bolt is an easy fit to allow a gap for some epoxy,then a back up cable tie.

now what am i up to.... with the race car...
i want to do 3 or 4 fiddly jobs. i also want to paint the engine something other than red (ideas welcome).
the list involves, change one of the exhaust joints to a vband
find the exhaust leak suspected crack in the manifold.
plumb in the heater matrix, this involves removing a cut off fitting in the block and re fitting the elbow that should be there, this is inaccessible with the engine fitted.
test all 4 fuel injectors for flow, pattern and leakage.
change the studs in the upper inlet manifold to bolts to make removing the uim easier, this will involve removing the studs and helicoiling the lower inlet manifold so that the threads are not damaged when inserting and removing bolts.
polish the upper inlet manifold
paint the lower intake manifold
and im sure theres more.

the secondary injectors having no orings would cause issues!
no wonder i had fuelling issues under boost, the fuel was all being blown back out before it got anywhere near the engine.
plus a decent sized boost leak due to a crack in the manifold. i knew it was there, i just didnt know where...
i dont know what the lower intake manifold was painted with, but it reacted really weirdly to paint stripper, just went soft and goopy, had to reappply several times and wire brush it and it still didnt want to come off.
but the engine cleaned up nicely, just a spot of blasting to key the surface and get the last of the red off and itll be good to go for paint.

getting there slowly....
blasted and helicoiled the lower intake manifold
then blasted epoxy primed and painted the engine and lower intake manifold
the lower intake manifold and accessory bracket i attempted to paint in a candy effect. only time will tell how that will look, basically instead of primer, basecoat and lacquer, you use basecoat to tint the lacquer, the idea being it looks translucent.

I have been experimenting with the emblems for my Volvo, I have them off the car after I repainted the rear hatch. I wanted to put them back but they look pretty worn. New ones are silly expensive for what they are IMO so I'm trying something out.
Rubber paint was my first test. I loved how it looks.
The texture is great, however the rubber paint peels off real easily. I don't want to have to redo this every month or so.
I then tried some silver paint, I got some dirt on the volvo badge and sanded it off, and an interesting effect happened. It's a reversal of the factory colors.
I think this looks cool and is probably unique. I'll give them a protecting layer of 2k clear coat I think and they should last.
