My two cents worth. I've used copper slag, garnet, steel shot and platinum lag. The slags are dusty, especially platinum, not good for 'Thompson II valves'. Garnet is the most used and steel shot has the best life however it is only used in cabinets and or rooms that recycle, due to it's cost.

can be used in mobile pots along with chilled iron and recovered but i wouldnt use it as it gets damp and sticks to the inside side of the pot and goes rusty and clumps up in the reg valve . ive seen big ones with the inspection hatch out and getting battered with a fbh to knock it off
