Not a bad philosophy. In general the stuff that may not be perfect is generally sound, it's just the finishing which can let it down, so for the cost saving, worthwhile investing a bit of time.
I know folk tend to say old English gear is better etc., which it generally was good gear, but I've seen plenty of Friday afternoon specials, filling big cast voids etc., so in comparison, a lot of the Chinese ain't too bad. Simply some manufacturers went to greater length to make stuff well.
I like it .
Around 1998 to make a roadside memorial for a young kiddy killed outside a countryside restaurant at Rings End Guyhirn Wisbech by a speeding Porsche driver doing well over 60 in a 30 MPH zone . The brickie use a big car tyre , blocked in place with a brick either side and some lean mortar to make the arch in a low memorial wall . Once done and fully cured he cut the tyre out with a sabre saw then built a low flower vase shelf in,the arch .
Don't forget to have the moisture and oil trap on your compressors outlet . Three weeks ago I fired up a brand new replacement under warrantee compressor and was amazed at the 1+ litre of water expelled after a few minutes of charging up then switching it off and discharging the tank . Had I been silly enough to plug in any air tool I'm sure it would have got most of the water in it.
Think I'll be coupling my internal compressor plasma cutter to the protected air supply .. as I wouldn't like to unintentionally flood it with compressor extracted from the air water .
I've had to buy a new £146 ledger battery yesterday afternoon for our 5 berth caravan 
.
Normally it is on the special all year round trickle charging system ,run from the bungalow via a breaker protection unit . The gas heater fan is always left on at the lowest setting as air movement inside the caravan alongside two CFL lamps of 7 watts each wired in parallel helps keep it free of damp .
About five weeks ago we had a millisecond powered interruption ..it only dropped out the oven clock and nothing else , my lass reset the clock and only yesterday told me about it when I tried to used the motor mover on the caravan & suddenly discovering the van only had 8.9 volts in the battery . Yep the protection device had also dropped out and we'd not realised it the battery was too far discharged to recharge it normally . .
Luckily the local motor factors had a 12volt 110ah battery in stock .
So both big SSI & my SIL can now stay in the caravan for a while to help Alison with her MS , whilst I go into hospital for my new reverse joint total shoulder replacement op on 7 OCT .

I saw the forks peeking out before I asked for permission to go diving. I'm not sure what I'll do with a third pallet truck (already have narrow and wide versions) but maybe I'll cut the forks to make a short one instead? The wheels are good and the hydraulics work. The release mechanism is a bit sticky.
There is some karcher gear in the skip, looks like scrubber dryers and they may even work but I don't want any more junk than necessary.

First pallet truck I've seen with open top runners.
Same here. Nameplate states 2000 kg capacity and I guess it works!
There was (and still is) more stuff in the skip. Yes, it's criminal.

I haven't completely given up on trying to organise all the stuff in the workshop yet. These Euroboxes might possibly help to reduce the trip hazard if I can get things off the floor and onto the shelving units or into the skip. Vain hope but you have to try from time to time.
Couldn't find any used ones on ebay etc, so these are the 20L (blue, £15) and 10L ones (grey, £6) from Amazon, I'm afraid. Got another 6 coming, 20L without the front opening.

Found these that have been buried in my work yard for over 10 years, pulling out my yard now and having a clear out. brought home and stripped and cleaned up with new timber...very handy when doing facia board jobs or cutting spars and joists. Main reason was i have 4 steel van wheels i need to wire wheel and got to be outside because of the red dust.

For your £50 you have to employ someone to sell it and take responsibility for it when selling. It's a lot cheaper and less liability to chuck it in a skip.

Two pallet trucks are handy when shifting something big. Also good that I have two sizes. But I agree three is excessive!
