Vast Cong made thousands.French Resistance fighters were knocking them out in sheds, on top of the ones being air-dropped to them.

Picture pleaseYesterday I made the world's ugliest, ropey-looking trolley/storage unit out of accumulated leftovers of scrap metal.
(My workshed is under 4m x 4m & so everything possible is on wheels so I can stuff things away - this is made to roll under the home-made workbench in the corner, so I can get at the stuff without having to crawl in & drag stuff out).
It's a fugly contraption made from a dead table saw leg framework, bit of old van racking, a pair of castors & an axle kept off something else found lying in the shed, and some strips of chequer plate & bits of box section.
Luckily the monstrosity will be hidden under the bench 99% of the time, hiding both it & my equally fugly welding.
(Part of the reason for doing it was to give me a bit of torch time, as I haven't welded much at all, & I have a jacking point repair to do on my Camper very soon - so some practice is very much needed!
I'm finding I'm using higher settings & much better (if fugly) penetrating; strong welds than I used to, & I have a grinder & powerful to dress my distressing-looking welds on the van![]()
Did you make that today?
Yep, you know the rules!Picture please
We are all learning everyday
I’m intrigued, please tell us more
branding iron?
Well....I did say it was a monstrosity! Bits of scrap cobbled together - &I'm the first to admit that's exactly how it looks!Picture please

Looks better than the first one I made...I used about 17 6013 rod to complete 4 small welds, it came out twisted, out of square, out of plumb and the handle didn't fit...and that was after I'd been on a welding courseWell....I did say it was a monstrosity! Bits of scrap cobbled together - &I'm the first to admit that's exactly how it looks!
Idea is to make a lift-up handle on the front to make it easier to drag about if the need arises (though really it's just a storage unit under the bench where it's inate fuglyness is largely hidden away).
I could give it a lick of paint - but let's face it I'd only be trying to polish a turd!
